UNITEAM AND SOLID SARA SUPPORTERS PUSH BETS IN SEPARATE CAMPAIGNS

Supporters of Ferdinand Marcos Jr and Sara Duterte, presidential and VP candidates respectively, held separate campaign rallies at Potters Fields Park in Tower Bridge and at Trafalgar Square, wearing green and red shirts.

Solid Sara Supporters 2022

Solid Sara Supporters 2022 walked from the North area of Trafalgar Square in Central London to the Philippine Embassy.

Although they are a different group as diehard supporters of Inday Sara, they also welcomed Marcos supporters.

According to Midz Mirabueno Dagamac, “Tatay Duterte kami noon 2016…..kay Inday Sara Duterte naman ngayon 2022.”

Marie Fairbank, one of the organisers, was happy their permit which they applied for back in January 2022 was granted, and because it was their first time to organise successfully an event like this.

She said, “Sometime in January or early February we received a video from Sara acknowledging us as her supporters in U.K. It goes without saying that if we support Sara we support the Uniteam.”

They obtained donations and announced they were producing free t-shirts. When all 250 t-shirts were ready for distribution, those interested sent messages to attend the event.

Marie added, “Community members were all welcome to our event regardless of who they support as presidential candidate. In fact even Leni supporters we gave t-shirts to and advised them to attend other events.”

Among the participants were members of Filipino LGBT, DDS,Davao Kagan Muslim–UK, Golden Fil-Brit Pensioners, Nurses, Caregivers, DH, MMBP-BBM-PFP officers, and Filipinos from different regions in Philippines.

UNITEAM holds rally, but without permit

About a hundred Uniteam supporters, separate from Solid Sara Supporters 2022, mounted their campaign rally at Potters Fields Park in Tower Bridge (where Tower Hill and the famous bridge are located).

They sang, danced and chanted the names of Bongbong and Sara.

It appears however that the Tower Bridge organisers held their rally without a permit from authorities.

They claimed they were granted permission “to hold a picnic” at Potters Fields Park, but a screenshot of a letter from the authorities said they (the organisers) were told that “political activities are not allowed on the Park under any circumstances and that this is non-negotiable”.

The park administration letter clarified that “For the avoidance of doubt, no permission whatsoever was sought from or granted by us for this event.”

However the Uniteam supporters “decided to go ahead anyway”.

The park team on site asked them to leave and called the police, but “by the time the police responded, the gathering had already started to disperse.”

Some of the supporters contacted for comment were not prepared to make a statement.
