PM Johnson out of ICU

By Gene Alcantara, United Kingdom

LONDON - Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved from the Intensive Care Unit at St Thomas Hospital after spending 3 nights in intensive care and receiving oxygen. He has been moved to a ward for "close monitoring during the early phase of his recovery".

Mr Johnson caught the coronavirus which took him out of action since late March. He was taken to the nearest hospital as a "precaution" but ended up in ICU last Sunday.

The news was welcomed by Downing Street. A spokesperson has said he "is in extremely good spirits" and that The PM thanked the NHS for the "brilliant care" he has received.

While out of office the PM's role is temporarily carried out by the First Secretary of State, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab.
