ROME - Italy has recorded the highest number of deaths with 368 in a single day, 252 were from Lombardy, according to the March 15 press conference of the head of Italy’s Department of Civil Protection, Angelo Borelli. There are 369 registered recoveries, with a total of 2,335.
An increase of 2,853 of the actual number of positive cases surpasses 20,000 from yesterday. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in Italy to 24,747.
Borelli also noted that from the actual number of cases, 9,268 are isolated at home while 1,672 are in intensive care unit.
A total of 3,385 volunteers across Italy lent their hands to help in this crisis.
Europe has now become the epicenter of the novel coronavirus, Covid-19. In Italy, the government has decided to place the whole country under a total dramatic lockdown. Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte ordered the closure of restaurants, pubs, shops, theaters, museums last March 12.
Bergamo is the hardest hit town in Italy with 3,416 cases.
